Shell Point’s Larsen Health Center named among America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 by Newsweek
FORT MYERS, Fla. (Sept. 27, 2023) – Larsen Health Center at Shell Point Retirement Community has been recognized on Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 list. This marks the fourth time Shell Point’s skilled nursing care has earned the prestigious honor, which is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.
The America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 ranking lists the nation’s leading nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest number of facilities according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The evaluation is based on five data sources, including CMS data; a national online survey; management of Covid-19 response and protocols; resident satisfaction data; and accreditation by the Joint Commission (TJC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

Larsen Health Center is the hub of Shell Point’s healthcare services, including a comprehensive medical center; on-site imaging services; a full-service pharmacy; behavioral health; and a rehabilitation center offering orthopedics, cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and other specialties, including stroke and memory care, dysphagia, pain management, low vision, and vestibular therapy.
The 200,000-square-foot center offers 162 private and nine companion skilled nursing rooms organized into self-contained residential neighborhoods that promote a personalized approach to care. Dining rooms and sunrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing water and nature preserve views. Each neighborhood accommodates 20 residents and offers a living room, activity room, lounge area, and a family conference room.
