FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 15, 2012) – Steve Amerson and Laurie Gayle Stephenson will perform as part of Shell Point Retirement Community’s Fine and Performing Arts Concert Series. Their concert, Amazed by America, will take place at 7:30pm on Tuesday, February 28. This performance will be held in The Village Church Auditorium on The Island at Shell Point
America’s tenor Steve Amerson and Broadway star soprano Laurie Gayle Stephenson will combine their powerful voices to present Amazed by America. This patriotic musical production will be a Broadway-style salute to the troops including songs such as Into the Fire, Requiem for a Soldier, Bring Him Home, American Anthem, God Bless America, Shenandoah, Because of the Brave, 4th of July Parade and God Bless The USA.
Steve Amerson has a vocal flexibility that allows him to feel at home when performing popular and contemporary music, Broadway show tunes, and classical literature. With the wealth and depth of his performance experience, he is known as America’s Tenor. Steve has been a featured soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and abroad, including performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. In 2006, he made his Carnegie Hall debut singing in the world premiere of Missa Americana by Ed Lojeski.
Laurie Gayle Stephenson made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning The Secret Garden where she performed the role of Lily. She starred for two years on Broadway as Christine Daae in Phantom Of The Opera, and made her debut as Christine in Phantom with the first national touring company at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Laurie was an original cast member of The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber in Concert. She toured the United States singing opposite Michael Crawford and made her debut in London’s West End at The Palladium with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
