SHELL POINT RESIDENTS HELP STUDENTS START THE SCHOOL YEAR

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 27th, 2012)

Residents of Shell Point Retirement Community, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors in Southwest Florida, hosted their annual summer school supply drive to assist children and grandchildren of staff for the retirement community.

“We are most fortunate that our residents have, once again, extended their generosity and raised $11,000 to help provide employee’s children and grandchildren with their necessary ‘back to school’ supplies,” said Karen Anderson, AVP of Human Resources.

During the summer, resident volunteers distributed school supplies for staff members’ immediate children and grandchildren who will be attending kindergarten through fifth grade. A total of 500 bags of school supplies were handed out to Shell Point staff for their children and grandchildren to make sure that they had a great start to their school year. All of the supplies were donated, or purchased by funds donated, by the residents of Shell Point Retirement Community. Many of those residents also volunteered to hand out the bags when they were distributed to staff.
