SHELL POINT PARTNERS WITH THE ALVIN A DUBIN ALZHEIMER’S RESOURCE CENTER TO OFFER “CAREGIVERS & CUPCAKES”

FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 4, 2011)

Shell Point Retirement Community is partnering with the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center to host “Caregivers & Cupcakes”, a special event for family caregivers. This will be an afternoon of mixing and mingling while enjoying delectable desserts.

On Thursday, March 31, family caregivers are welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon focused on relaxing entertainment and camaraderie to help offer a break from the normal routine of caregiving. “We are pleased to offer a special event like Caregivers and Cupcakes to encourage caregivers to have fun while enhancing their social support network,” said Dotty St. Amand, Executive Director of the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center. “Social support, and staying connected, is essential to everyone’s good health and wellness. The Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center is committed to helping caregivers maintain their own wellness. Too often caregivers neglect their own needs as they become consumed with caregiving duties. This event is an opportunity to encourage caregivers to focus on their needs, even if only for one afternoon.”

The Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center, a United Way partner agency, provides information, education, and support to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and their caregivers in Lee County.

The event takes place in the Grand Cypress Room at the Woodlands at Shell Point and will begin at 2 p.m. This event is free and open to family caregivers who spend much of their time looking after the wellbeing of others. The event is free; however space is limited, so RSVP’s are required. To reserve your spot, please call (239) 437-3007.
