A Full 18 Holes By Christmas
FORT MYERS, FL – The Shell Point Golf Club in Fort Myers has begun construction of the back nine of its championship golf course, with completion slated for December 1.
“Our guests are very excited about the opportunity to play a full 18,” said Shell Point’s director of golf Michael Mongoven, “and we’re excited to be able to deliver it to them.”
Open to the public since 2000, the Shell Point Golf Club offers nine holes of championship play with five tee lengths, a grass driving range and practice green, a fully-stocked pro shop and snack bar, and lessons available from local professionals. Its competitive rates and tropical location, just 2 miles from the Sanibel Causeway and 5 miles from Fort Myers Beach, has made it a favorite among Lee County locals and visitors alike.
The Shell Point Golf Club will operate normally throughout the construction. Said Mongoven, “The back nine is in a secluded corner of our property, so for the most part our guests won’t even see anything going on back there until it opens this December. In fact, right now is a great time to play here, since our summer rates have come into effect.”
The course is crafted by Gordon Lewis, whose award-winning designs make up southwest Florida landmark courses like The Brooks and Kelly Greens. Shell Point’s par-3 seventh hole was recently featured in the “Dream 18 of Southwest Florida” compiled by NBC-2 sports anchor Tom James.
