SHELL POINT ACADEMY OFFERS SEMINAR SERIES ON THE STORY OF INDIA

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 17, 2010) – The public is invited to attend a seminar series titled “The Story of India” presented by Professor Adrian Kerr, and sponsored by The Academy at Shell Point. The event will take place on Tuesday’s, September 7, 14, 21 and 28, with each session being 10:00am to 11:30am in the Grand Cypress Room located in The Woodlands neighborhood in Shell Point Retirement Community.

    The series will offer an historical perspective of India from the origins of its native people, to the re-taking of its position on the world stage. India is the second largest country by population, and is the leading country in the technical service industry. Tickets for each seminar are $10, for a total cost of $40 for the entire series. “India’s history, religious, and cultural impact are much more widespread than many people realize,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “It is an honor to have Adrian Kerr back at Shell Point again discussing this country’s history and its impact on the world.”

Professor Adrian Kerr is regularly invited to give talks on various topics internationally, and has participated in TV and Radio programs relating to topics in which he is considered an expert. This series is for those interested in the history of India with each lecture focusing on a different stage of “The Story of India”.

The Academy at Shell Point is a lifelong learning educational initiative for the residents of the retirement community. The Academy provides anywhere from 70 to 115 classes each trimester, that encompasses a well-rounded curriculum of educational opportunities for senior adults. The Academy at Shell Point was named as one of 2008’s most innovative active aging programs by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA), an association that supports professionals who develop wellness/fitness facilities and services for age 50-plus adults.
