SHELL POINT ACADEMY OFFERS CLASS SERIES ON 17TH CENTURY DUTCH MASTER ARTISTS

FORT MYERS, Fla. (April 27, 2012) – The Academy at Shell Point invites the public to attend a series of classes on three of the great 17th century Dutch masters. This series will take place on Tuesday May 8, May 15, and May 22, and the cost to attend will be $10 per session. Each presentation will take place in the Grand Cypress Room at The Woodlands in Shell Point Retirement Community. Space is very limited, so tickets are required to attend, and can be purchased by calling (239) 489-8472.
Lecturer Dorothy “Dottie” Magen, M.A. is back in The Shell Point Academy of Lifelong Learning to bring us the history of three of the great Dutch Masters, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Hals. Each session focuses on one artist; and portraits, landscapes, and history paintings will be presented to look at the featured artist. The presenter will incorporate history and artwork of others from the same time period as well. Magen will use slides and videos to bring the artwork to life.
“Art appreciation truly is ‘in the eye of the beholder’,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “Last semester Dorothy presented our Academy with a class focusing on three amazing women artists, and we are very excited that she is back to offer more to our residents in the area of art, and really expand on each artist.”
