Professor Adrian Kerr returns to Shell Point to examine the immense and varied country of China, and how it has been the most populous country on the planet since before the Roman times. The impact of China’s history, religion and culture is widespread and is felt every day as its influence continues to grow. He will start out discussing the Boxer Rebellion in the 1890’s and carry audience members through the history of China to the Mao control. All of these events played significant roles in the reform and westernization of China, making it a super power.
“Professor Kerr has been one of our most popular and regular presenters in the Academy at Shell Point, and he always brings intriguing and informative presentations to the Academy because of his immense knowledge of the history of various regions and his ability to share how that regions’ history relates to today,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “We are pleased to welcome him back, and I know that guests will enjoy learning more about China today.”
