The Academy of Lifelong Learning at Shell Point welcomes Professor Adrian Kerr, who is presenting “The Story of Pakistan and Afghanistan” on Tuesday, March 18 and Tuesday, March 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Grand Cypress Room of The Woodlands at Shell Point Retirement Community.
Professor Kerr offers a two-part series of lectures on the history and colorful cultures of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Each country is often overshadowed by their neighbors— the giant India to their south and Iran to their north. They are two of the most enigmatic countries, and both have emerged into high profile as a result of the post-911 conflicts in the Middle East.
Tickets for the class are $10. To purchase a ticket, please call (239) 489-8472.
“Professor Adrian Kerr brings such richness to The Academy,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Volunteer Services and The Academy at Shell Point. “He always brings some of the most intriguing and insightful presentations to our residents and the community,” she added. “These two historical presentations are a prelude to Professor Kerr’s lecture on Pakistan post 9/11 scheduled for May.” Kerr is the author of “Ancient Egypt and Us,” a concise yet sweeping review of three thousand years of history that focuses on how our modern religion, literature, art, architecture, medicine, cosmetics, warfare, peace treaties, mathematics, government, women’s empowerment and science all have their roots in ancient Egypt.
