FORT MYERS, FL (January 19, 2010) ) – Shell Point Retirement Community will open its doors to offer visitors a glimpse into the daily life of a Shell Point resident during the “Shell Point Showcase” Open House on Thursday, February 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
According to Lynn Schneider, assistant vice president of marketing, “The ‘Shell Point Showcase’ was chosen to provide visitors the opportunity to explore the community, to visit with Shell Point residents, and discover the groups, activities, and clubs that provide such a diverse lifestyle for more than 2,200 residents who live here.”
There will be light refreshments, door prizes, a health fair, tours of the community and several decorated models, as well as presentations offering detailed information about lifecare and how to become a resident of Shell Point. Guests will also be able to tour the Shell Point Train Room, which will be running throughout the event. In addition to the entertainment and activities, there will also be opportunities for shopping at a Farmer’s Marketplace, craft sale, used book sale hosted by the Shell Point Library, and the resident Gift Shop will be open for business as well.
“Shell Point is such a unique place to live, with so many services and the open house is a perfect way for senior adults to visit the community and see the lifestyle it offers,” said Schneider. “It’s all about choices. Our residents have so many options to choose from in terms of creating their own personalized retirement. Shell Point offers three different neighborhoods, each with its own unique personality, plus more than 40 floor plans to choose from. Once they have selected the neighborhood and building style of their preference and move in, then the fun really begins as they begin to try out new hobbies and activities they may not have had time for, or access to, before they retired. It is not uncommon for a resident to discover their ‘inner artist’ or to take up golf at the age of 70! It’s a chance for a new beginning and to rewrite the ‘script’ for the next stage of their lives.”
The Shell Point Showcase Open House will encompass all three neighborhoods – The Island, The Woodlands and Eagles Preserve. Trams and buses will provide transportation to all events and locations throughout the three neighborhoods.
The Open House will also include tours of several decorated models throughout the community, ranging from a one-bedroom residence all the way up to a three-bedroom executive. Retirement counselors will present seminars explaining Shell Point’s lifestyle with lifecare model for retirement, while some counselors will be in the model units for specific questions. There will be question-and-answer sessions after each presentation.
“Visitors will receive a printed schedule of events and a map when they arrive so they can plan the activities they want to view or participate in throughout the day,” said Schneider. “This event has been a great success in the past, offering many individuals their first look at what Shell Point has to offer.”
