FORT MYERS, FL (January 5, 2009) – Karen Anderson, SPHR, director of Human Resources for Shell Point Retirement Community, recently became the president for the Human Resource Management Association of Southwest Florida (HRMA), an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Anderson has been an active member of the chapter since 2000 and has served on the board for three years.
Anderson joined Shell Point in 1996 as Human Resources Manager and was promoted to Director of Human Resources in 2001 where she oversees the management of human resources, strategic planning, safety, employee health, purchasing and warehouse.
Prior to joining Shell Point, Anderson worked for The Michigan Credit Union League in Southfield, MI for five years where she served as Director of Education and Training.
Anderson is a 1990 graduate of Oakland University, with a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development. In addition to her position at Shell Point, Anderson is actively involved in Fort Myers American Little League, and is also a member of The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD).
The Southwest Florida Chapter of HRMA is a group of Human Resource professionals dedicated to serving the HR profession and advancing the HR professional. The chapter serves 200 members and provides educational and networking opportunities; a website with many HR resources (hrmaswfl.shrm.org); scholarship programs and support for students entering the HR field.
