FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 31, 2011) – On Saturday, September 10, Shell Point Golf Club will welcome participants for the 1st Annual 9-11 Memorial Invitational to run through the golf course in various categories. The course will open at 6:30am, with a coaches meeting at 7:15am, before the first race at 8:00am. “We are pleased to be working with East Lee County and Dunbar High Schools, who are co-hosting this exciting event,” said Michael Mongoven, director of golf for Shell Point Golf Club. “I think that the golf course and property of Shell Point will prove to be a wonderful location for the race due to the variety of natural environments throughout the community.”
The registration fees for this race are $60 for a varsity team, $10 for individual entries, and free for JV teams that are participating with their varsity team. If a JV team does not join with a varsity team, then the cost is $25 for them to enter. This is a race that will utilize timing devices which will be provided by Elite Timing & Event Management. The Shell Point Golf Club is an 18-hole Championship Golf Course that opened in 2000 and was designed by Gordon Lewis. The course offers a grass driving range and practice green, lessons, a fully-stocked pro shop and snack bar, and all the course golf carts are equipped with Uplink GPS monitors. The course is open to the public, and is located at the entrance to Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida, just off Summerlin Road, two miles before the Sanibel Island Causeway.
