Tickets for this presentation are $10 each, and the proceeds benefit the Rehabilitation Facility being added to the Larsen Pavilion Skilled Nursing. To purchase tickets, please call (239) 454-2067.
Sheehy has authored fifteen books, including Passages which remained on the New York Times bestseller list for more than three years and has been reprinted in 28 languages. She was a contributor to the New York Times as a literary journalist, and a contributing editor to Vanity Fair. Sheehy has received numerous awards for her in-depth character portraits of national and world leaders including both president Bush’s, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Margaret Thatcher, Saddam Hussein, and Mikhail Gorbachev. Her newest book has something to say to everyone. She says, “No one really expects it but at some time or another, just about everyone has been – or will be – responsible for giving care, for a sustained period, to someone close them.”
“Gail Sheehy offers such wonderful insight into the world of caregiving, and how it affects everyone differently,” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “In this presentation she will share with us the journey and wisdom that she has gotten from her experiences. Caregiving for a loved one is something that not everyone thinks about until the time is here, and Sheehy can offer a viewpoint on the trials, fears, and joys of caregiving.”
