FORT MYERS, Fla. ( January 21, 2016)
The Academy of Lifelong Learning welcomes popular Professor Adrian Kerr to Shell Point Retirement Community for Middle East Turmoil, an educational presentation that will be held on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. in The Village Church Auditorium, 15100 Shell Point Boulevard, Fort Myers.
The Middle East is the birthplace of three of the world’s major religions, and a territory being fought over for more than 4,000 years. Kerr, an avid historian and published Egyptologist, will analyze the history and culture of the great powers that have ruled the region, examine the key historical events that led to the political and religious turmoil of today, and investigate current conflicts that continue to engulf the area.
Kerr has traveled around the world to research ancient civilizations in Egypt, China, the Middle East, and beyond – for more than 30 years. A resident of Southwest Florida, Kerr specializes in the interactions among early civilizations, and the impact that these ancient communities have on modern times.
“Professor Kerr’s passion for this historical subject shines through in his animated and descriptive telling of current affairs and the ancient feuds that motivated modern-day crises,” said Teri Kollath, manager of the Academy of Lifelong Learning. “Since Kerr is such a popular speaker, this class will be held during the evening in a large auditorium to accommodate a massive audience of working professionals and students, as well as retired history buffs and ‘armchair enthusiasts,’ who prefer to attend an after-hours presentation.”
Tickets for this evening lecture cost $10, and may be purchased by calling 239-489-8472.
