Shell Point Retirement Community, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors in Southwest Florida, opened a new venture in Southwest Florida last year, The Community Thrift Store. Due to the success and the support of the Lee County community, The Community Thrift Store is expanding; right next door! The newly expanded space is located in the same shopping center at 15501-2 Old McGregor Blvd, Ft Myers, next to Planet Fitness in the Iona area of South Ft Myers.
The additional space allows the store the opportunity to grow its inventory of popular items such as furniture, art work, house wares, children’s clothing/toys, music, and linens. The expanded location will be open and operational as of Wednesday, May 23, with normal operating hours. Store hours will remain the same, Tuesday through Saturday from 9am – 4pm.
“The residents of Ft Myers are excited about our thrift store,” said Debbie Zeis, store manager. “They often note that they love the friendly staff, which is 100 of our best volunteers. They appreciate how clean the store is along with the quality of items and fair prices.
“We have regular customers who frequent the store weekly, looking for that next great bargain or treasure. The antique collectors will love the new Vintage Corner. Our women’s clothing area has something for every size and style,” she added. “Due to the demand, we will also be expanding the Women’s Boutique area.”
The store carries a wide array of items for all shoppers, including furniture, home décor, household goods, CDs, books, games, adult and children’s clothing, jewelry, and more. Plus, this store offers items that are not typically found in resell stores such as building supplies, construction materials, appliances, and fixtures. When an individual or an organization donates items to the store, they receive a tax deductible receipt.
