Public Welcome to The Woodlands at Shell Point
FORT MYERS, FL – Artistic works of all genres and styles will be showcased at “Art By The Lake,” a one-day event to be held at The Woodlands at Shell Point on Friday, October 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Many of the 1,600 residents of Shell Point Retirement Community demonstrate their finely-honed artistic talents through watercolor, oil paint, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, woodworking, photography, textiles, and other genres. The general public now has a chance to browse through and purchase some of their best works, displayed in a beautiful outdoor boardwalk setting.
“The Shell Point Artists have enjoyed successful shows on The Island for many years,” said Teri Kollath, Shell Point’s volunteer coordinator and organizer of the show. The Artists’ annual spring shows consistently draw many residents, locals, and tourists to shop and browse. “Because demand was so great, we’ve added another opportunity for their talents to shine through. And with the beautiful outdoor location, there could not be a better venue than The Woodlands!”
The Woodlands, Shell Point’s newest residential neighborhood, welcomed its first residents in October 2000 (The Island at Shell Point has been serving seniors in southwest Florida since 1968). A 25-acre lake complements the boardwalk setting of The Woodlands, with nature preserves on either side.
Parking and admission are free; food and beverages will be available. In case of inclement weather, the show will be relocated indoors to the Commons building. Shell Point is located off Summerlin Road in Fort Myers, just two miles before the Sanibel Causeway.
