The Academy of Lifelong Learning at Shell Point presents “Russia Under the Tsars” lectures on three Mondays in the month of November from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. in the Social Center on the Island at Shell Point Retirement Community.
- Monday, Nov. 3: Alexander I, Napoleon, Nicholas I
- Monday, Nov. 10: Alexander II the Tsar Liberator
- Monday, Nov. 17: Nicholas II and The Russian Revolution
Presented by resident Seth Mendell, the lectures cover Russia’s past from the early grand princes of Kiev in the late 9th century to the fall of the Romanovs in the early 20th century. Particular attention will be paid to the major personalities of the period, as well as the formation of the themes that drive Russian policy today.

The Academy of Lifelong Learning at Shell Point is an educational initiative for the residents of the retirement community.
