Summer Concert Series Performance Summary
The Stardust Memories Big Band was created to carry forward the legacy of this true and original American art form at dance venues and concert stages through public and private performances. The energetic group, founded by Craig Christman of Naples, Florida, plays the original arrangements made famous by great bands and band leaders, including Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and many more. The group will perform at Shell Point on Tuesday, June 14.
Don’t miss Ethan Uslan, Ragtime Pianist, on Thursday, July 14, at Shell Point. This three-time winner of the World Championship Old-Time Piano Playing Contest has performed internationally, and is ideally suited for the demands of silent film accompaniment. The rollicking sounds of his ragtime and 1920s jazz are a splendid match for the antics of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, and Harold Lloyd. A formidable improviser, Ethan shifts keys, styles, speeds, and harmonies to unite the sounds of the piano with the action on the silver screen.
On Thursday, Sept. 15, Shell Point welcomes Gulfshore Trio for an evening performance of classical favorites. The ensemble is well-known for an appealing and diversified repertoire – from the chamber Masterworks of Mozart to music on the lighter side. Gulfshore Trio is comprised of accomplished violinist Reiko Niiya; concert pianist William Dawson, soloist with the Boston Pops and various other orchestras; and phenomenal young cellist Shea Kole.
Join the Southwest Florida Chamber Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Nir Kabaretti on Thursday, Aug. 25, as they kick off their 56th season a few months early. This “Summer Staycation” concert will feature Mozart’s Eine Klein Nachtmusik (A Little Serenade) and other light, popular, classical pieces.
