As one of the largest single-site Life Plan Communities in the country, we are currently home to approximately 2,500 residents and 1,100 dedicated employees. Throughout decades of change, we have stayed rooted in our founding values of compassion, service, and faith.
Our History
Shell Point was founded in 1968 by The Christian & Missionary Alliance, a Protestant denomination headquartered in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. What began as a vision for faith-centered retirement living has grown into one of the most respected and most recognized senior living communities in the nation.
Shell Point operates as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization and continues its legacy as a ministry of The Alliance.
A Legacy of Benevolence
Shell Point began with a generous act of giving. In the early 1960s, local businessman Berry C. Williams donated 75 acres of waterfront property to the Alliance—beginning a heartfelt tradition of philanthropy.
Today, that charitable spirit continues in Shell Point’s Legacy Foundation. Our Friendship Fund supports residents who find themselves in financial need through no fault of their own. The Foundation also helps with estate planning, managing bills, organizing advance directives, and making referrals to other trustworthy advisors.
