FORT MYERS, Fla. (March 6, 2020) – Shell Point Retirement Community, located in Fort Myers just east of Sanibel Island, is offering a new scholarship opportunity for local high school students who have an interest in the hospitality industry. Initiated by Shell Point’s Human Resources department, this new program will offer paid, part-time positions in one of the community’s three assisted living facility dining venues.

“This is an ideal opportunity for Southwest Florida teens who are interested in a part-time job that will also help them gain exposure in both the culinary and senior living industries,” says Karen Anderson, vice president of human resources for Shell Point. “It’s also a great way to earn additional money towards post-high school education and build relationships with our residents who have rich life experiences to share.”

The scholarship program offers three levels of grants ranging from $2,000 to $7,500. Guidelines include, one to three years of employment in a dining position and at least 780 hours of work time. These culinary and customer service positions will offer students great experience in the hospitality field and will also provide ideal work hours with no late nights.
