Shell Point assisted living residents recently crafted and personally delivered more than 100 colorful toys for kittens and pups at the Gulf Coast Humane Society in mid-October.
As a nonprofit, animal welfare organization, Gulf Coast Humane Society relies on generous donations to achieve its mission of caring for the abandoned and neglected pets of Southwest Florida. Every year, the shelter takes in, cares for, and finds homes for more than 2,000 animals.
“Ensuring that the lives of the animals are enriched while they are living at the shelter is a critical part of the Gulf Coast Humane Society’s mission, and one of the most important gifts we can give to our pets,” said Jennifer Galloway, Executive Director of Gulf Coast Humane Society.
Shell Point residents contributed to the wellbeing and enrichment of the shelter’s animals by crafting teaser wands, braided tug ropes, and fleece balls. During the onsite delivery, residents enjoyed sharing playtime and love with the pets.
“Few activities offer as much happiness and fulfillment as using our time and efforts to help when needed,” said Morgan Clayman, Shell Point assisted living activities supervisor. “Many of our residents have worked with neglected animals in the past and were passionate about continuing that admirable work.”
